Post 8 - Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu is a magical spot on earth. I can see why it is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. We arrived at Machu Picchu at 6am to see the site at sunrise, but instead found ourselves surrounded by clouds and walking though the mist as the ancient Inca ruins appeared and disappeared in the fog. The Inca stone configurations were fascinating and inspiring. Examining the massive stones, many of which weigh upwards of 50 tons, made us question how they were perfectly carved and placed with such precision at the top of the mountain. As the day progressed, the clouds started to disperse and reveal the majestic landscape surrounding the site. It is a breathtaking and awe-inspiring place.

One of the most sacred places is called the Intihuatana, which translates to “the hitching post of the sun”.
