Post 3 - Lima

We visited our first ancient ruin today. Huaca Pucllana is a pyramid built by the Lima Culture (between 400 and 700 AD) out of adobe and clay. It is right in the center of the city and is completely surrounded by houses, condos and apartments. The contrast between the ancient structure and the modern buildings is stark.

We also visited the Amano Textile Museum. This museum has an amazing collection of textiles that covers 5,000 years of weaving history in Peru. Many of the textiles on display were made from the smallest handspun threads and include weaving, embroidery, resist dying and feather work.
